Have you ever been totally devastated by someone’s words or actions? I have. For example, when I said earlier that I felt led to education and became a teacher that sounded very easy. Let me assure that it was not. Let me tell you how it really was. I had no education hours and no license but felt I needed to pursue that.
More historical perspective: At that time non-traditional teachers were much fewer. In fact, it was actually rare because, unlike today, there was an abundance of qualified teachers. However, I had heard of a few cases where non-traditional teachers had been used so I saw it as a possibility. So off I went to the district superintendent’s office to check it out.
Well, I could not tell you anything specific that was said to me about having the opportunity to teach there but I can tell you that I left that office feeling emotionally crushed, totally worthless and frustrated. It was a Friday. I remember that because I went home and cried for two days feeling emotionally crushed and worthless.
By Sunday that gave way to a feeling of frustration that I had allowed myself to be treated that way. I did a lot of praying and by Sunday night a sense of calm and resolution came over me. Today, I recognize that as the Holy Spirit working in my life. I just knew that I could not leave things that way. I was definitely being led to go back!
Biblical Inspiration: Luke 18:1 – Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
Biblical Inspiration: Colossians 4:2 – Devote yourself to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
Lesson in a Nutshell: Following God’s plan for your life does not mean everything is always going to be perfect and good. He doesn’t make that promise. Thankfully, He does promise to be with us through whatever challenges that we do face.
