The last thing that I wanted to do was to go back and face him again but I was being told (almost audibly) that I was to go. When I think about this along with the next two years of my career I always think about Philippians 4:13. I could not have had the courage to go back to that situation without the strength given to me by God.
In any event, I walked in the office, stood at the door and said something to the effect that I just came to say that he was wrong, that I would have been one of the best teachers he could ever have, and I furthermore I could teach anything! At that time I don’t think that either of us realized how that assertion was going to be tested over the next two years!
In any event, as I turned around and started out the door he stopped me, had me come back and sit down, and offered me a one semester job teaching eighth grade physical science.
Biblical Inspiration: Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through God who strengthens me.
Biblical Inspiration: Ephesians 2:10 – For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.
Lesson in a Nutshell: Following God’s plan for your life does not mean everything is always going to be perfect and great and good. He doesn’t make that promise. Thankfully, He does promise to be with us through whatever challenges that we do face.
