Of course, it was not all good and positive results of course. There were failures at all levels and degrees. In particular, I recall one student who was in trouble at school a lot that I did therapeutic counseling with for hours and weeks only to receive a phone call from jail and later a letter from prison thanking me for trying to set him straight and lamenting that he did not pay attention and assuring me that he would change when he got out! I honestly do not know if that happened or not. Admittedly, when things like this happened, it was difficult not to get discouraged but the Lord always provided a bright spot to keep us moving forward. And I knew that although I did not technically have a 100% success rate, I had given 100 % to help every child.
Let’s take a break from the discouraging and go forward to uplifting next time when we talk about how my twenty-five years at high school directly impacted another big lesson in “Abby Sue, Where Are You?”.
Biblical Inspiration: Galatians 6:9 – And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Biblical Inspiration: I Corinthians 15:58 – Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
Biblical Inspiration: Colossians 3:17 – And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Biblical Inspiration: Jeremiah 10:23-24 – I know Lord, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course.. . . . .
Lesson in a Nutshell: Even if it is not your choice, always do your best and give everything you have to give to the job you have been given. If God put you in that place, there is work there that he wants done by you.
